Diabetics always need to take care about what they eat. All food contains carbohydrates, proteins and fats which are converted to glucose in the body. This glucose raises blood sugar level if it is not used properly. With the help of insulin glucose is converted into energy. While in the case of type 2 diabetes, diet is planned for weight loss in order to improve the ability of the body to utilize the insulin produced. However, in all type of diabetes whether it is type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes the goal of diets is similar, which is to keep the blood glucose level within normal range.

With the help of your doctor; first, select the suitable calorie amount for you. Then plan your diet in such a way that total number of calories in your diet is not more than the suggested amount of calories. Diabetic people can eat the same food that everyone else eats the only difference is that diabetics should take care about the amount of food and calories in that food. The diabetes food pyramid and exchange food list helps to plan your calorie diabetes diet. The exchange system provides six groups of foods and in each group there is a list of food items having same number of calories. This is helpful when exchanging the foods in your diet plan. The food pyramid gives you a rough plan of a diet. From that information you can plan your exclusive diet. Grains and starches contain more carbohydrates. Foods in this group include breads, pasta, rice and starchy vegetables; choose 6-11 servings per day of these foods. Leafy vegetables like spinach, cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower etc are rich in vitamins and good for diabetes; eat 3-5 servings of these vegetables per day. Two to four servings of fruit per day is an acceptable amount. Milk products contain more fat than other foods so choose only 2-3 servings of milk products (yogurt, cheese etc) per day. You can include 4-6 ounces of meat and meat substitute per day. Packaged snacks like potato chips, crackers, and candy, cookies contain large amounts of sugar so include only small amount of such foods in your calorie diet.

If you consider these tips it will be very easy to plan your calorie diabetic diet.

Carbohydrates Are Not The Key To Weight Loss

Carbohydrates are the body’s major source of energy which enables the many body organs to function properly. Carbohydrates taken in by the body is broken down into glucose which provides the much needed energy of the human body. With the glucose that was produced as the human body consumes carbohydrate-rich foods, the pancreas secretes an important hormone called insulin which transfers the glucose from the blood to the different cells of the human body. That in a nutshell explains how important carbohydrates are and why everyone should not totally eliminate the intake of carbohydrates through their diet plans.

To explain why carbohydrates is not the key to weight loss, it is important to know the two different types of carbohydrates contained in the food that people eat. One is the carbohydrates in its simplest raw form of sugars found in fruits and vegetables and the other one is complex carbohydrates which are found in cereals and potatoes. Both of these forms of carbohydrates have good and beneficial effect on the body because they produce energy which is badly needed by the body to function properly. However, not all foods are good supplier of carbohydrates whether simple sugar or complex carbohydrates. Sugar sources of carbohydrates found in fruits and vegetables are good carbohydrates because they these sugars are unrefined and come in their simplest natural form. And aside from this fruits and vegetables also contains phyto-chemicals which make it a good source of nutritional needs. Complex carbohydrates are also good for the body if they are taken in by eating fiber-rich carbohydrate heavy foods such as cereals, whole wheat bread and whole grains. Aside from giving the body good supply of sugar to produce energy, these foods are easily digested and are not stored in the body as fat. The bad carbohydrates rich food that should be avoided are those that come from foods made of refined sugar such as cookies, cakes, carbonated drinks and others because of the high sugar concentration in these foods which are hard to digest and most often than not remain in the body as stored fat.

Going to the question of whether carbohydrates are the key to weight loss, the answer is either a yes or no. Like any other food, anything that is taken in excess of how much the body needs is always a bad thing. The same thing is true for carbohydrates, whether it is simple or complex, good or bad carbohydrates; the important thing to remember is that, both affects weight gain, if not taken moderately. It should always be remembered that any amount of carbohydrates taken in by the body which is not consumed and converted into energy will remain in the body as stored fat, which would contribute to weight gain.

So, is a low-carb high-protein diet the best way to lose weight? The answer is still either yes or no. It would still depend on what type of protein is taken in as part of the diet. Protein like carbohydrates also contributes to weight gain if not taken at the right proportion and not consumed by the body properly. But this is not saying that low-carb high protein diet has no effect on weight loss, actually it has an effect on weight loss. However, Too much of protein and less of energy producing carbohydrates may not be good to one’s over all health. The body needs energy from carbohydrates and the nutrients from protein rich food to build up muscles and for other sustenance.

Carbohydrates intake may lead to weight loss, it is a proven fact. But to say that it is the key to weight loss is not true. Depriving the body of the much needed energy from carbohydrates may lead to weight loss, but the effect on the over all health of the body must also be considered. The best way to achieve weight loss is by attaining weigh loss objective without sacrificing total body health. To do this, the key is still moderation in the intake of the essential nutrients whether they are carbohydrates, protein among other things. And of course, ensure that these nutrients are properly utilized by the body through maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Carbs also hold water, which is useful and when carbs are reduced, the body effectively loses ‘weight’ by drying out and losing muscle stores. Carbohydrates are one of the three “macro-nutrients” that our bodies need to function properly.

Carbohydrates are the fuel that your body uses for energy. Carbohydrates are now the bad guys to many and protein is king.

Carbs with a low GI help stabilize our weight because they don’t bring about highs and lows in blood sugar, and they keep our appetite steady. Carbohydrate counting helps you keep track of how much carbohydrate you eat for meals and snacks. Carbohydrates are classified as simple or complex

Carbohydrates occur in plant foods and foods derived from plants. Carbohydrates taken in by the body is broken down into glucose which provides the much needed energy of the human body. Carbohydrates are biomolecules that release energy during the metabolism process.

Carbohydrates are found in almost all plant products but they are not present in significant amounts in animal products, except milk. Carbohydrates supply your body with glucose. Carbohydrates are your body’s primary source of energy

Simple carbohydrates are digested quickly, whereas complex carbohydrates take longer to be digested.

Fats however don’t offer that quick energy but by feeding a diet higher in fat, the  body becomes accustomed to using fat more readily and therefore can constantly burn it for energy. Fat and protein can also be broken down to supply energy, but aren’t used as effectively by our bodies as carbohydrate.

Fats transport nutrients and they are a part of many body cells. Fat requires more oxygen for metabolism than carbohydrates. ddFat has over twice as many Calories as do carbohydrates and protein.  

Glucose is one of the major sources for energy your body uses. Glucose (a carbohydrate) reacts with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water which are breathed out as waste products.

Thus this makes the child very thirsty and usually very hungry as well. Because of the increase in fluid intake, it has to go somewhere, and so the child needs to keep running to the toilet to emptying his or her bladder. The onset of bedwetting can start simply because the bladder is so full all of the time.

Unexplained Loss Of Weight

Sure kids burn a lot of energy and can be quite thin, however, anytime your child is loosing weight for seemingly no reason at all. This may indicate juvenile diabetes is affecting their health and alarm bells should start ringing especially when the child is eating and drinking more than usual, yet still loosing weight. The body just can’t eat and drink enough when it has problems producing insulin. Like any piece of machinery if there is a problem in the fuel supply you can’t expect it to run properly.

It can be said that quite often kids thoughts are quite confused or rather confusing this can easily be put down to their stage in life. So how do you know that you don’t just have a bad case of the flu or you’re not just overworked and in need of a vacation? Visit your doctor and ask for a fasting blood glucose test. After setting up an appointment with your physician, you’ll be asked to fast over night or for at least eight hours prior to the test. A single drop of blood is taken from your finger and either sent to a lab or tested in the physician’s office using a glucose meter. Results are almost instantaneous. One simple test is all you need to take in order to determine whether you’ve been suffering from a diabetes symptom, so when in doubt, take the test.

Iodine Prevents Weight Gain

Did you know that iodine helps to prevent excess weight gain? It although does not act individually to help to loose weight. But it is an important constituent for triggering the production of hormone that acts to loose weight or help reduce the accumulated fat. I guess, by now all would have guessed the name of the hormone. Yes, I am talking about the thyroid hormone only. They are produced by the thyroid gland situated in the lower region of the neck portion.

Iodine is required in very small quantity by the body but it is very important for the element to be present in the body. Small micrograms are just needed for a very important activity. The absence of this can cause very drastic effects on the body. This acts as the triggering agent for the secretion of thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland.

You might wonder why the thyroid hormone is very essential. This hormone plays a pivotal role to accelerate the body metabolism rate. Metabolism means includes from the food absorption rate and its biochemical reactions to produce various end products and finally the energy production. When the hormone production slows down or hinders it directly influences the metabolic rate and the various side effects related with slow metabolic rates.

This case mainly occurs with the hypo thyroidism where the thyroid production is less. However, this should not be assumed in a wrong way thay excess ingestion can even prove better results. This is a very wrong assumption. The iodine concentration has to be optimal. For safer consumption, the individual can consult the doctor who can prescribe any iodine supplements in the required dosage levels for a specified number of days.

Some medical professionals also prescribe kelp instead of any drug supplement for iodine. This has a very great effect on thyroid production and help to loose many calories for fat people and gain a god sufficient amount of fat for the thin people. It has the ability to act either ways. Along with the intake of iodine, Vitamin A consumption is also essential as this helps the thyroid gland to absorb of iodine from the blood.

Along with regular exercises and good balanced nutrition weight gain can hardly be a problem for any one.
