One of the major areas of concern whether you’re a health buff or not is achieving flat abs. The truth is it is not easy and even getting a six-pack abs can be very frustrating. Many of those have tried all the recommended abs best exercise from all source of information. In the internet alone, you can find thousands of links about this topic. There are more than enough of the types of abdominal exercises to choose from.

Why does it have to be the abs? This is because the abs is where the human body stores excess fats. Every person on earth needs fat. But to have too much of it is unhealthy. So the never ending pursuit of getting rid of unwanted fats in your body becomes a big deal. Now the argument is that if there are excessive fats in your system, you have to get rid of it.

There are several kinds of abs exercise claiming that these are the abs best exercise. The truth is, not all of them may work for you. In fact, you don’t need to try all of them. Just choose the ones that you think are easier and manageable. Read the step by step methods in each exercise to know which ones are easier. The bottom line is to get those muscles working in your tummy.

There may be countless exercises to choose from but some are recommended as more effective for you than others. Surprisingly, the traditional crunch isn’t the abs best exercise at all. Below are three most recommended but you may only need one or two to go.

- The Captain’s Chair. This is performed by relaxing your arms with two horizontal supports in a frame. An improvisation is by fastening these supports to a wall. Of course it follows that these must be able to carry more than just your weight. Then you bend your legs up to your abdominal area. This is similar to how you would do a leg raise with folded knees, except that you are doing this vertically straight up. Check out some websites on how this is done properly.

- The Bicycle Exercise. Specific abdominal muscles are targeted when doing this exercise. Generally this is done by lying face up with your body positioned as how the traditional crunch is done. When doing this, you will be moving your legs just like how you would ride a bicycle. Hence its name. This exercise is also considered an abs best exercise because particularly works for the rectus abdominis and the oblique muscles.

- The Exercise Ball Crunch. Another effective abs workout is this one. Although you need to buy an exercise ball to do this. It’s a flexible rubber sphere that looks like a very huge balloon. You do the exercise by resting your lower back and have your feet rest on the floor. Then you do the abs crunch. This type also targets the rectus abdominis. A lot of pictures are also available for better illustration.

People aim for six-packs. The sad thing is, if we don’t get it instantly, we get discouraged and give up. Flattening your abs requires discipline including your lifestyle. Yes, that is correct. Your lifestyle and that includes getting your habit for the abs best exercise regularly with proper diet. And while it is true that it requires hard work and the right mind set, all of these exercises only work if done repetitively. Great abs never happens overnight.

By: Corey Namesse

About the Author:

The biggest problem we face in America today is not terrorism – it is obesity. This is according to Dr. Julie Gerberding, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in America. And it seems much of this problem is happening in a slow and creeping way, through gradual young and middle-aged adult weight gain, over very long periods of time.

On the average, a typical American adult gains at least two pounds per year over his or her lifetime. That probably means that approximately 100 extra calories are being consumed each day, according to Dr. James Hill of the University of Colorado’s nutrition center. If you simply burn off those 100 extra calories, or don’t consume them to begin with, you will then not gain that yearly extra weight.

Dr. Gerberding says that fixing the problem will involve changing most Americans’ daily social norms. This will have to start in our early childhood, she says. People will have to begin performing more physical activity and eating less every day. And Dr. Hill has examined government figures showing that about 40 million adults are currently obese. He has also noted that Americans are steadily gaining more weight than usual in recent years. But what can be done about this socially and personally significant health problem?

“The future is not hopeful unless we act now,” Dr. Hill says. He estimates that if current trends continue, the obesity rate for American adults in 2008 will be 39%, which compares unfavorably with 31% in the year 2000.

Middle age shows a great increase in the amount of weight gained. There is a doubling of body fat in this time period in both men and women living in the developed countries. Such weight gain is strongly associated with increased morbidity and mortality. But there is ample evidence to conclude that moderate physical activity combined with a steady and healthy diet slows down or stops middle-aged adult weight gain.

Young adults are also at a high risk for weight gain. In America, for adults ages 25-74, the major weight gain was shown to be highest between ages 25-34. This was found by recent US government studies. And in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults Study, even though trends were constant across ten years of follow-up studies, age-related weight gain was larger in the early to mid-20s than it was for older age groups.

It may not be wisest to wait until middle age, even though that may be when obesity becomes a more significant health threat, to lose weight. Irreversible health damage from weight being above optimal levels may occur prior to the beginning of a health-related diet and exercise program. But modest weight loss can reduce cardiovascular risk factors, and in high-risk individuals, it also prevents the development of diabetes and hypertension.

The American College of Preventative Medicine endorses the guidelines of the National Institutes of Health when it comes to advising obese and overweight patients on how to go about both losing excess weight and keeping it off. They encourage moderate physical activity for 30 to 45 minutes for at least 3 to 5 days per week for clinically obese or overweight persons, whenever such a program is not contraindicated by any current health problems. They also advise counseling regarding an energy-reduced or low-calorie diet of 800 to 1500 calories per day for an obese or overweight adult until optimal weight is attained. Then it is suggested that the patient should remain on a healthy, normal diet that is not higher in calories than the amount burned by ordinary activities and exercise each day.

It is felt by many experts that simply avoiding excess weight gain during the early adult years may be very important. It may ensure the prevention of adverse health reactions and establish an early foundation for the maintenance of lifelong healthy habits in later adulthood. It is also felt that interventions such as simple changes in diet and the maintenance of a regular exercise program will help parents establish lifelong role models for their children. This would greatly help to prevent America’s steady increase in obesity over the oncoming decade, and its accompanying morbidity and mortality over the next several generations of aging adult Americans.

By: Karen Cole

About the Author:

Energy content of food is measured in terms of calories. 1 gm of carbohydrate and protein provide 4 calories each, whereas 1 gm of fat generates 9 calories. Body does not utilize protein for energy, because main function of protein is formation of cells and tissues.

So, carbohydrate and fats are the major sources of energy for the body. Body requires energy to perform the functions such as breathing, physical activity, and absorption. Carbohydrate is the main nutrient in our diet. However, consumption of carbohydrate rich diet increases calorie supply to our body that can lead to obesity. Carbohydrate blocker can reduce the supply of excess calories from carbohydrate, which is required in the management of obesity. Obesity increases the risk of several health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, stroke, gallstones, sleep apnea and colon cancer. So, you should always maintain your weight within normal limits.

Obesity or overweight is a condition in which excess fat gets accumulated in the body. When you take more calories from food than needed, those extra calories are deposited in the body as fat.

Whatever food material we consume, most of it is absorbed in intestine. But before absorption, food goes through a process called digestion. Digestion is required to break down complex food particles into smaller particles and simple forms for absorption.

Food contains various forms of carbohydrates such as starch, monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. However, body cannot absorb the complex form of carbohydrates. Digestion of carbohydrate breaks down all forms of carbohydrate to simple sugar, which is then absorbed by the body. Carbohydrate digestion takes place with the help of an enzyme called alpha amylase, secreted in saliva and intestine.

After absorption, this carbohydrate is utilized for energy, which is either burned off through exercise or stored as fat. The deposition of extra fat in body leads to obesity and other health problems associated with obesity. So, in case of inactivity or in overweight person, by reducing the absorption of carbohydrate with carb blocker, the extra supply of energy and extra deposition fat can be avoided. This state of negative energy balance leads to weight loss.

A natural ingredient extracted from white kidney beans has got the action of carbohydrate blocker. It neutralizes the digestive enzyme alpha amylase thereby reducing the conversion of complex carbohydrates into simple sugar.

Neutralization of amylase enzyme by carb blocker reduces the absorption of carbohydrate and helps obese person to achieve a state of negative energy balance and weight loss. As extra calories from carbohydrate is deposited as fat, so by reducing carbohydrate absorption and negative energy balance, the carbohydrate blocker also reduces fat in the body.

For detail information on carbohydrate blocker and natural ingredient that neutralizes alpha amylase enzyme, please visit,

Carb Blocker website.

By: Stephen Thomson

About the Author:

A serious search through many blogs, sites and medical journals relating to weight loss reveals a lot of similar information present in all.drink lots of water, watch your fat intake, count your calories and pretty much similar stuff in that line.one often wonders why they all say the same things. could it be that info on weight loss is very scarce or these tips probably work 100% of the time. more rigorous research reveals that most of these facts are infact 100% true.

first off, weight gain is as a direct result of calories, excess calories the body doesn’t need.each person possesses a calorific threhold such that when the threshold is exceeded the excess calories generally gets converted to body fat.of course the body needs calorific energy for its normal activities such as breathing, walking, swallowing and other essential life activities, if we steadily consume a high protein and very low carbohydrate and low fat diet, we starve ourselves of the necessary energy required for body sustenance. an irregular heart rate, low body metabolism, irritation and in extreme cases anaemia are the likely consequences that could follow.

Another common advice that is commonly found in weight loss sites and manuals is “avoid fatty foods”. you might ask why, since your favorite italian pasta is high on fat and you enjoy it so much. well, the simple reason is this. fats are in chemical composition very similar to fat storage cells in our bodies. In fact there exists a state of dynamic equilibrium or balance in our bodies , such that whenever our bodies experiences any prologed energy shortage, probably caused by sickness or intensive dieting, fat cells are converted into energy necessary for body activities e.g breathing, talking. etc. Also when there exists a net increase in the calorific content in the body, the excess is converted to fat. So as you can probably see, fats are much more easily stored in the body. Another reason to avoid fat is this among all the food nutrient groups we need they , they have the highest tendency to be accumulated for long periods in the body. Experts have deduced that more than 95% of certain types of fat consumed are usually stored in the body as fat tissues contrasted with less than 80% for other nutrient groups.

You probably also have heard a lot about exercising. The truth of the matter is, exercising can probably be your saviour from excessive weight gain if you lead a sedentary lifestyle. The food we consume, requires oxygen to be broken down into energy required for normal body activities. During this oxidation process where food is converted to energy, waste matter is also generated. The remaining food matter that cannot be broken down, digested or excreted from the body is usually stored.

Oxygen from the air we breathe is usually used for conversion of food to energy. The point to note is the more oxygen we take in, the more the food substances we consumed gets converted to energy and less into fat, that would eventually accumulate. So whenever you take a hearty meal, try to walk a little longer, exercise a little harder, and you’ll probably remain in great shape.

When all these are combined with sensible dieting, as well as natural supplements, the results are astonishing. Losing weight is not as hard as you think. You just need to know and be convinced about what works and do it consistently to achieve results.

By: Joy Peace

About the Author:

Carbohydrates are the foundation of diets world wide. Most of your calories come from carbohydrates. Some nutrition plans “demonize” carbohydrates. They blame carbs for the obesity epidemic. Carbs have been falsely accused. While some carbs are “bad” for you, there are just as many that are good for you. Understanding carbohydrates will help you to differentiate the ones you should be eating from the ones you should not be eating.

What Are Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are composed of sugar molecules. Sugar molecules are compounds of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. Carbohydrates are divided into two main groups: simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates.

Simple carbohydrates are also called sugars. They consist of one sugar molecule by itself or two sugar molecules linked together. Examples of simple carbohydrates are glucose, fructose, galactose, lactose, maltose, and sucrose. Sucrose is also known as “table sugar” and lactose is the sugar found in milk.

Complex carbohydrates are your fibers and starches. They consist of three or more sugar molecules linked together.

Energy Source

After you eat carbohydrates, your body digests and transforms them into the simple sugar glucose. All of the cells in your body are designed to use glucose for energy. There is one exception to this process. Your body cannot digest or break down dietary fibers into glucose, so these complex carbohydrates are not readily used for energy.

The simple carbohydrate glucose is an important energy source for your body. However, in excess, it can also be harmful to your body.

Insulin

When glucose enters the bloodstream, the hormone insulin is released. Insulin directs the glucose into your cells, to be used as energy. When too much glucose enters the bloodstream too rapidly, a large amount of insulin is released. It is also know as an insulin “spike”.

Those insulin spikes will increase your hunger and decrease your metabolism, leading to weight gain. Over time, those insulin spikes will also predispose you to Metabolic Syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes.

When trying to lose weight, the focus should not solely be on the quantity of carbohydrates eaten. The quality of the carbohydrates eaten should also be considered. Now that you know what a carbohydrate is, you can decide which carbohydrates you should be eaten.

By: Kalvin C.
After being diagnosed with diabetes, one has to come to terms with it and make a few changes to their lifestyle. At the most, they will be put on a new diet plan. One does not have to skip meals or avoid eating food that one has always loved completely in order to follow a diet plan. In fact, skipping meals only increases the sugar levels in one’s body.

For instance, fried, pureed or oily items can increase one’s blood sugar levels. Choose foods items that can act as a healthy substitute to these such as low fat dairy, meat substitutes, green vegetables and fruits.

A diabetic diet is a balanced diet featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, fats, proteins and most dairy products. Although diabetes cannot always be completely cured, it can be brought under control. It is essential to moderate one’s food intake and do regular exercise in order to maintain a healthy diet.

Eating fibrous food items can also reduce one’s weight considerably. These also help reduce the sugar levels in turn. Some instances of fibrous foods are oat bran, beans, rice bran, and cereals and so on. Garlic helps keep diabetes at bay. It is rich in potassium, zinc and sulphur and helps reduce blood-sugar levels.

Avoid salty foods, as they can increase sugar levels. Since one might already get enough salt from vegetables or other natural foods, they should reduce its intake.

Last but not least one should be constantly in touch with a physician who can help them to not only prepare an effective diet, to also take steps to keep their diabetes under control.

By: The Diet Guy

About the Author:
